What Is Frega?

This page provides a complete, honest explanation of what Frega is, how it works, what roles exist within it, and — equally importantly — what Frega is not. If you have encountered information about Frega elsewhere, this page is the authoritative source. Where any conflict exists, this page is correct.

The Short Answer

Frega is a software platform. It provides digital tools that help local businesses and their communities communicate more effectively, build stronger customer relationships, and operate more efficiently — all within a privacy-first environment designed in accordance with UK and EU data-protection regulations.

The name stands for Freedom, Global, and Abundance — values that underpin everything we build.

The Problem Frega Is Built to Solve

Small and medium businesses have always been the backbone of local economies. They serve their communities, employ their neighbours, and provide the goods and services that make everyday life work.

Yet these businesses have historically lacked access to the kind of digital infrastructure that large corporations take for granted — tools for customer relationship management, loyalty programmes, communication systems, and business analytics. Those tools either didn't exist for small businesses, were too expensive, or were too complex to use without dedicated technical staff.

At the same time, customers who want to support local businesses often have no meaningful way to build an ongoing relationship with them — no loyalty scheme, no direct communication channel, no record of their own engagement.

Frega addresses both sides of this gap. It provides businesses with accessible, fair-priced tools that work from day one, and gives customers genuine recognition for their loyalty.

What Frega Provides

For Businesses

Frega gives local businesses access to tools that were previously only available to much larger organisations. These include a branded loyalty reward system, an automatically building record of customers and their transactions, integrated communication tools, business dashboards, and reporting features. As the platform develops, additional tools — including AI-enhanced capabilities — are being added.

Businesses pay service fees for the tools they use. Fees are denominated in US Dollars. The primary loyalty service — Growth Points — start at just a 1% service fee on the transaction value being rewarded.

For Customers

Customers who engage with businesses using Frega receive Growth Points — branded loyalty rewards specific to each business. These are held in the customer's Growth Points account. They are redeemable only with the business that triggered their issuance, have no cash value, cannot be transferred or exchanged, and may expire according to the issuing business's policy.

Customers also gain access to Frega Chat, which enables direct, private communication with the businesses they engage with, and to any other tools available on the platform for personal use.

For the Community

Frega operates as a shared ecosystem. As more people use the platform, the tools become more convenient and interconnected for everyone. However, participation in Frega does not involve any financial investment or any expectation of financial return from the growth of the platform.

Growth Points — The Loyalty Foundation

Growth Points are Frega's branded loyalty reward system. They are issued by Frega when a business uses the service. Businesses trigger the issuance — they do not issue Growth Points themselves.

Each business's Growth Points carry that business's own branding. A customer might hold "Bob's Barber Growth Points" and "The Corner Café Growth Points" in the same customer account — each set belonging to its respective business, redeemable only there.

When a business pays a service fee to issue Growth Points:

  • 65% of the fee is recognised as service revenue, distributed to the service providers involved in supporting that transaction.
  • 35% is recorded as deferred liability under IFRS 15, held until Growth Points are redeemed, at which point Frega credits the business's service account.

Growth Points are a loyalty reward — not a financial product, stored-value facility, or investment of any kind.

How Frega Delivers Its Services

Frega does not operate through a traditional corporate structure of employed staff, regional offices, and above-the-line marketing. Instead, it partners with skilled individuals from within its own community — independent professionals who provide onboarding, support, and regional coordination as independent service providers.

This approach keeps operational costs low, passes savings on to users through accessible, fair pricing, and typically results in more personalised, local service than a centralised employed workforce could provide.

The individuals who provide these services within the Frega ecosystem are known as Consultants, Licensees, Publishers, and Advocates. Each role is described below, and in full on the For Partners page and the relevant detail pages.

The Four Partner Roles

All four roles are independent service-provider positions. None are employment relationships. None involve equity, ownership, or financial investment in Frega. The pages for each role — linked below — form part of Frega's Terms of Service by reference and should be read carefully by anyone considering taking on that role.

Consultants

Consultants are personal account holders who are programmatically identified as competent and willing to help businesses use the platform. The role is invitation-only and merit-based — it cannot be applied for.

Consultants provide onboarding support and ongoing assistance to a portfolio of up to 100 business clients. Their variable payments are funded from Frega's service revenue and are based entirely on their clients' platform usage — not on introductions, recruitment, or network building.

Every Consultant is supervised by a more experienced Senior Consultant. Senior Consultants may be assigned up to four Sub-Consultants by Frega. The 4% Sub-Consultant supervision fee reflects genuine supervisory responsibilities and is not a passive income or recruitment reward.

Consultant performance is measured through Frega's proprietary Net Score system. See How Consultants Work for full details.

Licensees

Licensees are community coordinators who represent Frega in specific geographical areas, providing local, face-to-face support that complements the platform's digital tools. There are two levels: Territory Licensees (local) and Area Licensees (regional).

Licensees pay a fee to secure their appointment. Territory Licensees pay a $1,000 establishment fee ($10 annual renewal). Area Licensees pay a $10,000 establishment fee ($100 annual renewal). This fee is not an investment and does not provide equity or any financial return on growth of the platform. It covers administrative and infrastructure costs.

Where a territory is already generating service fee revenue at the point of appointment, a maturity adjustment applies for the first two years, normalising to the full rate from year three. Licensees may also be Advocates but cannot hold Consultant or Publisher roles simultaneously.

See How Licensees Work for full details.

Publishers

Publishers are community members who develop AI agent tools using Azure AI Foundry within a secure sandbox environment provided by Frega. These tools are published to the Frega marketplace for other users to subscribe to.

Publishers receive a portion of subscription fees when their tools are used. All development and publishing activity is subject to strict data-protection and secure data-access rules.

See How Publishers Work for full details.

Advocates

An Advocate is someone whose normal platform activity — issuing Growth Points, sending an invoice, initiating a chat — leads another person to register on Frega. Advocate status is automatic. There is no application, no programme, and no requirement to do anything beyond using the platform.

When someone an Advocate has naturally interacted with goes on to use paid Frega services, the Advocate may receive variable payments funded from Frega's service revenue. These payments are calculated as 20% of service fees in year one, 15% in year two, and 10% from year three onwards, continuing indefinitely at that rate. Payments are subject to a flat monthly cap of $3,000 across all introduced accounts, or 100% of the Advocate's own combined Frega service fee spend if that exceeds $3,000 — whichever is higher.

Advocacy is incidental, not a programme. Most Advocates receive nothing or very small amounts, as many introductions do not lead to ongoing paid service usage. Advocate payments should not be considered reliable income and are not a reason to use Frega. All variable payments are taxable income.

See How Advocates Work for full details.

Privacy and Data Protection

Frega is built around a "garden fence" data model — meaning all user data remains within the protected Frega ecosystem and is never sold, leased, or provided to third parties, advertisers, or data brokers.

Data is used only for the purposes for which permission was explicitly given. Users retain full rights to access, export, and delete their data. The platform is designed in accordance with UK and EU data-protection regulations, including privacy-by-design principles and explicit consent requirements.

See Our Privacy Model for full details.

What Frega Is Not

Given that Frega's community model can be mischaracterised, we set out clearly what Frega is not.

Not a Multi-Level Marketing Scheme

Frega is not an MLM, pyramid scheme, or network marketing operation. There is no recruitment requirement, no downline, no targets, no quotas, and no payments for signing people up. Advocate payments arise from incidental introductions within existing relationships and are tied strictly to ongoing service usage — not to recruitment activity.

Not a Financial Product

Growth Points are loyalty rewards. They are not currency, not a financial instrument, not a stored-value facility, and not an investment. Neither the customer account nor any other account on Frega constitutes a financial product regulated by the FCA or any equivalent authority.

Not an Investment Opportunity

No role within Frega — Consultant, Licensee, Publisher, or Advocate — involves investing money in exchange for a share of Frega's growth, profits, or assets. Licensee establishment fees cover operational costs, not investment positions. Partner payments are remuneration for services delivered.

Not an Employment Offer

All partner roles are independent service-provider positions. Frega does not employ Consultants, Licensees, Publishers, or Advocates. These individuals work independently and are responsible for their own tax affairs.

Not a Get-Rich-Quick Scheme

Most Advocates receive nothing or very small amounts. Consultant payments depend entirely on the service usage of clients assigned by Frega. Licensee payments depend on activity within their region. No one joining Frega in any role should do so with expectations of significant income. The platform's primary value is in its tools and services, not in partner payments.

The Name

Frega stands for Freedom — from extractive business models that treat users as data to be mined rather than people to be served. Global — because the model is designed to work for communities anywhere in the world. Abundance — the belief that technology, used fairly, creates more value for more people rather than concentrating it in fewer hands.
